Our House...

All my free time is spent dreaming, packing boxes, painting, dreaming, painting...The dreaming is happening more and more, because this dear house needs just a few updates and changes. And my brain has been working hard to try and figure out how to make those changes on just a small budget.
Here are some pictures of the house. I am almost done painting Kades room a nice warm tan color. And looking forward to getting him first settled in that room. I have taken down all the very lovely OLD window treatments. And have picked out all the paint colors for each room...minus the bathrooms. Still working on what the heck I am going to do with that. While doing all this I run after Kade, or Paul does. While Paul is trying to build a fence in the backyard to keep our wild animals in;) Oh, and yes the flooring. I am hoping we will have that decided by the middle of the week and work on getting that installed by the professionals. Awwww...it will be nice to be there, settled and be able to work on a few things while Kade naps away.

Some how I managed to send a few family members a Valentine. I thought they turned out pretty cute.

The living room that opens into like a den area. And oh, yes. That wood paneling is going to be gone and in the future we will spruce up that fire place. And that dear light fixture will have to find a new home. It will be gone!

Oh..what can I say about that flooring...I hope we can change that soon. This is our mini dining room. That so nicely opens up to our rather, mustard kitchen. Which we will have to live with for a bit til we can slowly pick away at it. And some day take the whole thing out and remodel it!

It gets better. Bamboo wall paper in our room. I am so glad we will get to change this. I am looking forward to all our projects. And making this new house our little house.

This is Kades room. This is a bad picture. This is the only room we have painted. Every wall in the house is white. white. Wonder how many cans of paint we will need??!!

Oh, it gets better. This wall paper is vintage people. Its staying put. Not really...it must go..changes to be made here too.

Sunset Walk

So I finally put batteries in my camera, so maybe that will help me blog a bit more...maybe.

We did a sunset walk along the Bluff trail at MDO last night, and it was beautiful. We are truly so spoiled to be able to live here.

Boxes are beginning to fill our house and we are getting ready to move...oh the joys of moving. I have to say, I do like to throw out old things or rather give them to the Goodwill and get the feeling that we are headed for a fresh new start in a new home.

I seem to be the one doing the packing....while Kade and Paul find matching hats to pack..

Changing it Up.

I have been itching to redecorate. Or really, wish I had someone to redecorate for me who knows how to work with a really small budget. I have been thinking of looking into on of those HGTV programs to see if they might want us on their T.V show...but then I wonder if I would be all that motivated to actually do that...but I have been dreaming. A lot.
That said, I will soon get to redecorate...and really redecorate...because we are moving. Yup. moving. It will be fun with a toddler....so maybe HGTV would like us:)
We are moving back to San Luis Obispo. And we are excited about our next adventure, which will involve remodeling...at a very slow pace..I am thinking paint will be my best friend to start off. We will be able to get into the house in February, but will be officially moved by March 1st. I am looking forward to making a new place our home and getting settled....Oh and if you follow me on Pinterest, you may see I am just a tad bit obsessed with home decor ideas. And Pinterest in general. Who told me about that site anyway!?!!
I will try and get some pictures posted at some point soon. And let you know our new address.

New Years

New Years Eve started out with a little of this.....Kade is getting use to his bike. He is a tad bit young for it, but he enjoys standing on it, looking at it...

Mostly seeming interested in how to turn the wheels...in time he will ride it...

So for now, we do a lot of wearing the helmet in places like the sand box. Which isn't too bad...He does run around in it. And he is faster these days, so if I really could, I would probably have him in a helmet at all times.

We then went to visit our little friend Wesley. Kade and Wesley are 6 days apart! Wesley is just a sweet heart. And so darn cute. Fun spending the afternoon watching the boys play. Tried to get a few shots of them together...but that was nearly impossible to get them in the same frame.

I think this is the only shot I got of them together..and it really isn't a picture of the two of them. Wesley was trying to down the strawberries before Kade could take them away.

That evening we had a delicious dinner at my friend Roses' house. Little Kade was up til 10 and was doing pretty good. It was great to hang out with friends and be merry. Kade was a bit tired when we got home,,,and he was still tired the next day, which was nice because we headed to Big Sur for a lovely day of hiking.

And we are off. Kade hiked the first quarter mile..maybe...he wanted to do more...But well, we decided he would enjoy a free ride better.

We decided to check out the Tan Bark trail. It was a beautiful trail. Steep. Thankfully Paul carried Kade the whole way. We hike to the top of the ridge and got to check out this old Tin House that was built in the 40's for some congressmen. Apparently it was built for his family and they stayed there one night. They were not found of the tin rattling in the wind.

We had a wonderful day. Feeling blessed that we were able to bring in the New Year in Big Sur, enjoying the fresh air and beautiful scenery. Cheers to 2012, I hope it is full of new adventures, love, health and joy! ( This is the fog rolling in on our drive home. Thick, thick fog!)

Christmas 2011

This year we headed to Walla Walla for Christmas at my parents house. It was a wonderful Christmas filled with my loving family, good food, laughter, love and wonderful gifts. I feel very blessed to be able to surround Kade with such a family. There were so many photos, so I think I will let them tell the story of our special Christmas. (42 pictures....that's how many are on this blog!) Geesh...I got photo happy for sure.

Heading out for a hike...Why do I have on all these clothes and Kota has on shorts...? Well your cousin Kota is crazy. It was 30 degrees...On a side note..Kade was so happy here, but was short lived. He feel and hit his lip on a rock and got his first really big fat lip.

Thank to Aunt Coco and Lexi, Kade has his first pair of Seven jeans. Thankfully he has room to grow into them. They sure are cute!

A little obsessed with the iphone.

One of our gifts we received from my parents. I had to take a picture of this because I am always amazed with my mothers creativity. This year my mom made one of these for each one of my siblings..five of these she made. Each one is a pop up card with removable ornaments. On each ornament is specific foundation, like the Cancer Foundation. The idea of the tree is to list possible places to donate money. In the little pocket next to the tree was an amount of money to donate. So now, Paul and I and the rest of my siblings and family will have to decide where we want to donate money. I am filled with gratitude that we are able to give to others and help a cause.

Last, but not least, Kade was surprised with a new bike from his dear parents...What a lucky boy!! He took right to it, but will certainly need a lot of help and time to learn how to ride a bike. Merry Christmas!!!!

And for these to boys, I would do anything.

Another Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday...and I kinda wish I had more of them in one year..if it didn't involve me actually having to get older. It is because, I do love birthdays and getting pampered and getting presents. I can't lie about that. So yesterday, was yet again a wonderful birthday. Paul let me stay in bed until 9!! I can't say I was sleeping, but 9!! That is wild for me! And he and Kade made me breakfast. The best! That was followed by a nice relaxing pedicure and lunch with the family. And then we did a sunset hike up Madonna, which was beautiful. And the day ended with Noi's takeout, Dairy-free cheesecake and Tom's shoes and more gifts. Happy Birthday to me!!! I guess turning one year older isn't so bad.

Kade and Paul Sledding in Los Osos

Well..it didn't snow here. But I think my last posted explained the Snow Day in Los Osos. So Kade and Paul tried it out. And my dear friend Nicole was able to capture the fun. Thank you my dear for doing that! Kade was so serious, but I think Paul had fun..and so did Kade.

We decided to check out the Los Osos Snow Day yesterday. It was pretty fun for Kade. He was loving all the action of the place. We did run into Santa again, and got a photo. This time Kade screamed when we put him on Santa's lap. Oh geesh! Anyhow, we did get all of us in the photo because of Kades fear of Santa. I didn't have my camera, but took a few pictures on my phone of Kade in the snow/slash dirt pile:) I might have a few pictures of Paul and Kade sledding from a friend. But for now I leave you with this photo attempt with Santa.

Santa Visit

I took Kade to visit Santa...It was pretty successful. No crying was involved, but he was really not that interested in Santa. He was more interested in what was happening outside. And he had to have his snack cup with him. I think he might have asked Santa for a new little bike for Christmas. And I am thinking Kade has been pretty good...but we have a few more days to go until Christmas, so we will see if that bike arrives:)

What?! Did Someone Say Christmas Crafts??!

'Tis the season..for crafts. Last year, when Kade was a weee 5 months old, crafts were not really on the brain. But this year, I have been feeling the Holiday season approaching us more, and decided to make Martha Stewart proud this year..well maybe...Here are some of the Holiday crafts I put together....some ideas from Pinterest....some from where ever...

This is our wreath this year. It consists of an old frame, some ribbons and a few bells. And it will be truly everlasting! I took the glass out and the backing on the frame, found a few bell ornaments and glued them to the top of the frame and added a bow. The bow is growing on me..but thinking it looks festive and easy to make!

I found a similar idea to this Christmas sign in Pottery Barn. This is my version. I took felt and made 14 separate squares and then used Marthas fancy stensils to make the lettering with red paint. Took some hemp string and silver clips and "ta-da" as Kade would say, we have a nice Merry Christmas sign to hang.

So I didn't make this, but I do love this calendar. I found it at our lovely little Rexall Pharmacy for 13 bucks!

A little greenery for the top of our TV cabinet.

Our little sweet house is lacking a fire place....so where to hang our stockings? Last year I just plastered them to the wall with a few hooks, but this year I wanted some thing a bit more practical. So thank you Pinterest for making this possible. I bought a cheap sign from Ross with some other random quote on it, spray painted over it with red and then tried to master stensiling on lettering. So much harder than it looks...It is a bit crocked, but my dear sweet husband says it gives it character. So now, the stockings are hung, but Santa, we can only have a few light gifts in those stockings....thats the down side. But I still love it!

And this year we got a tree! Yippeee! We are always gone for Christmas, but this year, it seemed a must. My dorky loves. I love Kade's look on his face.

Oh, right. I forgot about this picture. This is my lone tree, which I plan on giving a friend here soon that comes in green. But I took a cone and covered it in fabric. It took wayyyyy longer than I thought, because I did a special stitch on the sewing machine, so I could get the fabric to gather right and then glued it on correctly. But I am liking my little tree. Cheers to crafting it up!

I can't believe it is the last day of November. It is truly hard to believe. I already have Christmas decorations up, which is really early for me. But I am looking forward to Christmas this year, probably because it will really be Kade's first one, where he might pay some attention to presents....But I am getting ahead of myself. I am still in November. Before I finish my last post, I have to say, it has been enjoyable to post a "thankful' post each day. I am always thankful for many things, but it is therapeutic to write it down sometimes, even if they are small things. Which leads me to today. I am thankful today for Ibuprofen. I know right?! But what I thought was Kade teething, was actually a real temperature. It got to 102.4 today, which I wasn't loving. Kade was not himself and just not feeling well. But that ibprofen helped bring the fever down once today, so I hope that over night that fever will disappear. So for now, thank you to that dear drug for alleviating my son's pain and making him more comfortable. And here we come December! Bring on the Holiday madness.

Today I am thankful that my little sweet family got to spend the whole afternoon together at Hearst Beach. I think Hearst Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches that is close to our home. It was sooooo darn beautiful there today! Thankful to be able to visit such a place.

Pictures were taken on my phone, yet again...This is a little Beach Cove we hiked into. Nobody was there, so Kade and Odus had a blast running up an down the beach.

November 24th-Thanksgiving

I am thankful that we had a wonderful place to spend Thanksgiving, great food and good company. And so thankful that Paul's cousin was able to get off work in time to eat with us. And also, that Kade got to play with his cousin Stella. She is one strong 8 month old little girl!

Two things for this post, since I totally forgot about yesterday. I am thankful that Paul will be home 4 days this week! Sweet beans to a long weekend with Family. And for the 23rd, I am thankful that my parents are able to celebrate their 38th Wedding Anniversary today. Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad. Love you both. I am so lucky and blessed to have such wonderful parents.

Awww....the rain. I am thankful for the rain today. It was nice to hear it on my roof this morning when I woke up. I felt thankful to be cozy in my bed, the heat roaring and the rain pounding down. And later, how fun it was to watch Kade play in the puddles. Such joy. I am thankful for this day.

November 18th and 19th

I missed yesterday, so I am once again combining days. I am first off thankful for my mom's cousin Jackie, who we call Aunt Jackie. She has been so wonderful to have around. She babysat Kade today so Paul and I could celebrate our 2nd Wedding Anniversary. So lucky are we to have her in Los Osos. Thank you Jackie (if you read this) for everything! We deeply appreciate your love for Kade and your willingness to watch him so often. We love being able to get away and spend time together. Which brings me to the second thing for this post. Yep, it would be my sweetness of a husband. I am thankful for him and our love and that we get to spend time together. Today was wonderful and here's to many, many more years of celebrating our love.

I want to say a big "I am thankful for" for all of my siblings. All together there are five of us. 4 sisters and one brave brother. I would have never learned how to curl my hair the way I did without my sisters, I don't know how I would have ever learned how to put on makeup....I still don't really know how, who would have picked me up from those High School parites...and well who would have drove me to them? And without my brother, who would have done all his chores for him? Being the baby of 5 I somehow said "yes" to a lot of things that I probably didn't need to be doing. But I wouldn't change one thing about any of my siblings. I am thankful for all of them and each special part that they play in my life. I love you all!

Today I am thankful for my sister Anna. Of all 4 of us sisters, Anna and I are closest in age, which means we grew up fighting and arguing about clothes and all sorts of things. But as we have gotten older, we have become best friends. There is nothing in the world my sister Anna doesn't know about me. I am thankful for our relationship and cherish her deeply. With all the emotions we go through together, it is laughing that we do best together...or is she always laughing at me...ha ha! Love you Anna!!

I love my parents and feel very blessed and thankful to have them in my life and in Kades. Although they live up in Washington, I am thankful that we all find ways to spend time together so Kade can get to know his grandparents. You betcha bottom dolla that I am gonna bring up Kade more than once this month. I mean truly, I should call this blog, "All about Kade." That said, I wonder if I will ever forget this day. Two years ago on November the 13th, I found out I was pregnant with little Kade. And yes it was Friday the 13th....But it was the best day and the most wonderful surprise we could have ever wished for. So on this day, with all my heart, I am thankful for being blessed with the ability to have little Kade.

November 9th, 10th and 11th

So the fact that I am putting the last three days into one post is kind of cheating...but I just had such a wonderful last few days with my family, that I felt like all the days melted together and one thankful post is the best. And it it is simple too. I am just so thankful for all my family and that we were all able to get together and celebrate our Noni. Kade had such a wonderful time soaking up all the attention and love. Maddie and Henry (Kade's second cousin were so entertaining for Kade and he just loved them!) I will have to post pictures later. But it just comes down to loving my family and the time we had together. We had sad moments and many happy fun moments. All I am thankful for, with all my heart.

Yay for today!! I am thankful that I get to see my parents and sister today and all of my mom's side of the family. I am thankful that I get to spend a wonderful few days with everyone and enjoy the beautiful weather in Santa Barbara. Which means, I will be catching up on a few posts when we get back.

Today I am thankful to have been so blessed with a energetic, healthy little boy. I am so proud to be his mama and get to stay home with him and watch him grow and learn. Being a mom is so far, my most favorite "job" in the world:) Oh, and I wanted to add here that I am ever so thankful that Kade now loves toasted seaweed and will down my milkshakes/smoothies that I add avocado, spinach and carrot juice to. I'm on to you kid and your ways of eating vegtables!! (although he is eating a cupcake here..ha ha:)

Today I am thankful for the simple fact that I got to spend all day with all of my boys. We ended the day with a nice hike in San Luis. It was beautiful. Full of rainbows and crisp wind. It felt like fall and I was in heaven. I am just plain thankful for all my special days with all my special boys.

Alright...its all about cupcakes today. I know...but I am thankful for cupcakes...which then circles around to being thankful for gluten-free cupcakes and other gluten-free options for us gluten-free eaters. I am thankful that on special occasions, or not, I am able to celebrate and have my share of delicious sweets and goodies. I figured I wouldn't make it far into November without a thankful post for my little baby boy. Oh, how I am so thankful for him. Kade is just a blessing to us all and life would not be the same with out his craziness and excitement. I am ever so thankful that each morning (and naptime(s) I get to go and pick Kade up from out of his crib like he is the very best christmas present I am waiting to open on christmas morning. Everyday I get to spend with my little boy is just the best.

I was just reading people's comments on facebook and came across people who were giving thanks. How wonderful, I thought. I am a firm believer in giving thanks, but must admit that I may not always do it as often as I would like. So it seems the challenge is to give thanks on everyday of november. So here I go folks, I am taking on the challenge, but doing so on my blog. Which means, I will be blogging everyday this month!

I am already behind, so for my November 1st post, I am dedicating this one to my husband because it was/is his birthday. I am ever so thankful for all his hard work and dedication to us. Thank you babe, for all that you do. I am so grateful for you. Your health. Your humor. Your love. For just you. You will always be my favorite.

And here is my dear post for November 2nd. I am thankful for Odus. Yes, I truly love my dog, but must say this post may be out of a little guilt because we seem to be neglecting Odus just a tad lately. I love Odus for all his energy and love for Kade. So gentle and kind you are Odus to Kade when he pokes you, jumps on you, pulls at your mouth to discover your teeth, pulls your dog dish out from underneath you as you try to eat your meals. You Odus, are the bestest dog!

Kade and I spent the morning at the Beach in Morro Bay. At 9:00 it was already 75 degrees, Holy moly. I do love the weather we have in October here...the best.

Hats and a Ride

We are very into wearing hats these days. Taking them off and putting them on.....it is quite entertaining to watch. I am pretty sure I blogged earlier about hats, so if this is a repeat, I apologize. It is just too much watching him run around with the hats, reading and playing.

Hoods and sunglasses, are just as entertaining....

Kade took a trip with our Parent Participation class to the fire station. And he was pretty excited to get yet, another hat that he could put on and play with.

Aunt Coco sent us a new UNC hat. Kade is his cousins "smallest" fan!

But there is one hat, that Kade is just not too stoked about...That would be the bike helmet....He is not a fan of that thing being put on his head, but once it is on and he is off on the bike with Dad...he is one happy kid!

Although I love all my hats, I do like not to have one on. And here after a long bike ride, I was all too happy that we ended at a Mexican Restaurant, I got to eat my favorite dish of rice and beans...so many beans....But maybe next time I can wear a Sombrero while I eat!

A beautiful Hike up to the top of Cerro Alto

Given yesterday was so clear, on the coast and inland, we ventured to Cerro Alto to check out the views. It was beautiful to say the least. We came down as the sun was setting. I tried to take a sunset picture, but the hills were blocking the view. It was a wonderful hike. And always my favorite activity. .

Great Grandma Nana

We took a little trip to Mammoth over Labor Day weekend to do some mountain biking and hiking. Mammoth is just beautiful, and there are so many outdoor activities to do. This picture is before we left....Kade snuggling with Odus. Odus did not come with us this time. He got spoiled and was able to stay at his pet resort. And I am sure he was just fine with that. All in all the trip was a great one. My only complaint would be poor little Kade was a bit fussy....wouldn't nap and slept not-so- good at night. But considering, he was still good. And the trip was all worth it.

Our lunch break in Red Rock. It was hot. Really hot. But it was our only chance to get Kade out. It was a nice 100 plus degrees. Hot. We found a water faucet for Kade and let him play in it and get wet.

We finally got Kade a good bike seat and ventured out for a little mountain bike ride in Poly Canyon this weekend. Kade seemed to really enjoy himself. I think his favorite part was ringing Dad's bike bell. And going fast! After our bike ride baby cousin Stella came for dinner. Kade was LOVING her. Bit her toe too...He wasn't too sure what to think about his ability to make her cry. Poor stella. up:(

A little trip to Carmel

Paul, Kade and I decided to get away for a few days. And we decided on a little trip to Carmel, down the coast, on the 1. It was a wonderful 3 days of having no obligations and playing with Kade. Other than loosing my phone and one of Kades shoe ( which should be coming in the mail soon. Thank you hiker for returning it.) the trip was a success. Kade was an awesome sleeper and napper in the hotel and on hikes, lovely at the restaurants, (thank you lady and guy at park for all your suggestions.) Always nice to hang out with my dear boys. With the exception of Odus, who was being taken care of by my parents at home. Thanks mom and dad for keeping Odus company. Here is the trip via pictures.

Kade is loving having his Grandma and Grandpa here. He is soaking it all up. Loving the extra love and attention. The time is sure flying by. They have already been here almost 2 weeks. So hard to believe. Our time has been spent taking walks, going shopping, eating, cooking, going the park, checking out a summer concert in the plaza, and just spending time together, which has been lovely. And poor Paul has been having to work...but has got to spend a few good moments with us. But that work thing sure gets in the way.

I am so overdue for a good blog session. So here it goes. Our little man turned 1 on July 18th. We celebrated on the 16th..he won't know the difference for a few years. I am amazed at how fast he has grown and how much I love him. I wanted to blog about his birthday sooner, but we were having problems with our internet...and the parents are in town, so it feels like the days just fly by, and blogging has been put on the back burner.

So to you Kade, my precious baby boy, who is getting so big so fast, I blog these pictures for you. For you and how special you are....You are the best baby boy I could have ever dreamed of. I love you to pieces. I tell you this all the time, and it is so true. I want to hold you forever. I want to stop time so I can hold you longer before you get too big. I never want to stop rocking you at night and singing to you....but that time will come, but for now, you are the big 1. And I will continue to cherish every single moment I get to have with you. I will put this birthday memory in my mind and never forget your first birthday and the first 12 months of your life. You the best little monkey. Love you.

Fathers Day Weekend

Fathers Day hike was at Reservoir Canyon. It was a really beautiful day. There was still a nice flow of water in the creek, so Odus was pretty happy about that and it was fun to explore along the way. I really love this hike. I guess it goes all the way to the top of High School hill...but we didn't make it too the top...almost..we didn't bring enough water for us all. Next time! Happy Fathers day to a wonderful new Dad. And it seems these precious sleeping baby moments are just slipping through my fingers all ready. Oh, how I soak this time up with Kade. Being a mother to this darling boy is just the best thing in the world.

Kades Camping Adventure

I have been pondering how to approach this blog entry. Its been hard whether to hit the positives or just plain out hit the negatives of the trip and say how much it sucked and I wanted to cry and go home. Yep. It was pretty much like that.
I love camping. Always have. My first date with Paul was a camping trip. And we have been camping numerous times a year together over the 7 years of being together. So I was feeling pretty confident that Kade would fit into this whole glorious camping passion of ours quite well. We were wrong. Really wrong...at least for now.
I have to say, it wasn't all bad and yes there were pleasant moments in the 24 hours that we attempted this craziness. But lets start with the simple fact of the weather. It was windy. Butt-a** windy and Kade wasn't liking it. I remember looking at his poor eyes and thinking, those are eyes that are not into this wind...And it was cold. Not the 70 predicted. It was 60..maybe..and at night, it got in the low 40's maybe colder, which we kind of expected, but it was cold...cold for Santa Margarita Lake at the end of May.
The hardest part was that Kade was so darn upset. Nothing seemed to really make him happy. He screamed, fussed, cried...tried to laugh and was so not himself. Well, those of you who know him, he gets a bit upset and wants you to know about it, but this was too much. Paul and I were trying to set up the tent, while Kade was screaming in the pack and looking at each other, like we should bail now. Thinking back, we should have.
But we tried to brave it out. We wanted Kade to love this. He did love the fire. The one thing that seemed to calm him down and make him relaxed. He enjoyed that his friend Wesley was there. He liked the million little walks we took him on so he would stop crying. He liked sleeping in the tent, even though the bed had a slow leak cuz Paul had to jam the bed in the tent, and then sleeping at night was like being on a water bed that might pop and I had fear that I would catapult Kade off the bed.
So all in all. I think we will try again in a few years, with warming weather conditions, at a campsite that is flat and allows for more walking and enjoyment.
That my friends was our camping experience with Kade. We came home exhausted and then, I got the stomach flu. Bad. So bad. I was thankful to be home and not at that darn campsite. That would have just been the rotten cherry on top of a bad Sunday.
Still feeling crummy, but hoping to be up and running soon.
Enjoy the pictures, I think we captured all of the happy moments we could. I am glad we tried it out and feel good that we braved the elements. It felt hardcore, like we were camping at Mt. Everest or something. Not really, but it felt gnarly.
And a thank you to Julie and little Wesley for joining the craziness and braving this camping trip with us all. What were we thinking???

Kade at 10 months

I have been meaning to actually write an update about Kade and what he has been up to. First before I start writing a few things, I just have to say that I am awww that he is going to be a year on July 18th. Really?! How did the last months go by that fast?
So at 10 months Kade has 6 teeth. The top four are still making their way into the scene. Paul likes to call them troll teeth. He's got a real good cheeseball smile going on..the cutest in my eyes. He is into all things that he can move. Our office chair, or chairs in general, his wagon, buckets, laundry baskets, small cars....Anything he can push..he will push it.
A few days ago he really discovered walking. He has been trying to strut his stuff here and there. He can give a good 12 steps when he is feeling fancy on his feet. He still crawls like crazy and is gone is a second if you let him. He prefers to excit the house from the dog door. He learned that from Odus, not me. Lets see..he is not the most easy person to feed. He likes things that come from jars. That is my fault for being lazy and not making him the best of the best food. So now I make him food and put it in the old baby food jars..it tricks him, most of the time. His favorite thing to eat..sweet potatoes and grass and dirt.
He likes to be pretty vocal when given the chance. Like the other day we were in the grocery store and saw a baby his age and he just started screaming at the poor kid. But he was doing his best to introduce himself. I think he did a fine job.

My crazy Kade. He loves to be on the move...has a small attention span. He is not the observer, he is the doer, the explorer. He is my lovely little boy that is getting big so fast. I cherish each day. And love him to pieces.

My mom sent this to me. I had to share it. It is a recipe we like to use regularly.....usually we reduce the kid portion to one or a few. And add just one large dog named Odus.

Recipe for Preserving Wonder in Children

1 large grass field

2 or 3 small dogs

½ dozen children

A pinch of brook and pebble

Mix the children and dogs well together. Put them in the field, stirring constantly. Pour brook over the pebbles and sprinkle the field with flowers. Bake in hot sunshine and when browned, remove to bathtub.

Valencia Peak

Last night was simply gorgeous! We did a lovely hike up to Valenica Peak in MDO. I really can't believe that place is pretty much our backyard. The views there are priceless. The hike was wonderful and I must say my backside muslces, a bit sore today. Worth it...always. The only thing missing..Odus. Don't get me started on the whole State Park dog rules..I get it, but hate it. Missed you Odus.

He is cruising the furniture like crazy. He had taken a step here and there on his own. So Kade is certainly headed in the direction of walking...I mean running. This kid is going to take of in full sprint!

Mothers Day is just around the corner.....It will be my first real Mothers Day (considering Kade was still growing in my belly at this time last year.) It amazes me still that I can say I am a mother. I have a son. Amazing. It is truly one of the most special things in life that I have been able to experience. The love I have for Kade is undefinable...it goes all the way to the moon and back a thousand times.
In the years to come, I will experience motherhood on so many levels. Some good, some wonderful and some not so good and wonderful. I will probably want to scream some days. But that is part of the deal with Motherhood..I can only imagine....what is yet to come.
I will promise to you Kade, that I will always do my best as a mother and parent. I will always love you to pieces and maybe some day you will have some more siblings..who knows. ( no I am not pregnant.) And I will love all my children to pieces, I just know it.

The mother I am, and will become, will be and is shaped by many people who are in my life..but the one person who has influenced me the most, would be my dear mother. She is the best Mom I could ever ask for. The strongest person I know. She is beautiful, patient..oh so patient..loving, kind, creative, artistic...the list really does go on and on. I love you Mom with all my heart. I would not be the person I am today, if it weren't for you. Thank you always for everything you do. I am always so honored to call you my Mom and now the Gramma to my dear son. Happy Mothers Day to you and to all the Moms out there.
